Understanding Your Profit Calculator
One of the biggest risks in dropshipping is finding out your margin after the sale — when a supplier price has crept up, or you've forgotten to account for eBay's final value fee. DSMate shows you the full profit breakdown on every listing before you publish it, so you always know what you'll actually pocket.
All figures are calculated and displayed in Australian dollars. No currency conversion, no surprises from US-dollar pricing tools.
How profit is calculated
DSMate uses the following formula for every listing:
In percentage terms, that's a 27% margin — shown alongside the dollar figure on every listing so you can compare products at a glance.
What's included in the calculation
Supplier cost
The current wholesale price from Dropshipzone for the product, pulled directly from your connected supplier account. This updates automatically when auto-sync runs — if the supplier price changes overnight, your profit figure updates to reflect it.
eBay final value fee
eBay charges a percentage of the total sale price (including postage) as a final value fee. The exact rate depends on your eBay store subscription level and product category. DSMate calculates this based on the standard eBay AU fee structure — check your eBay seller hub to confirm the exact rate that applies to your account and category, as these can vary.
Shipping cost
The cost of shipping from Dropshipzone to your buyer, as provided by the supplier. Many Dropshipzone products offer free shipping, in which case this is $0.00. Where a shipping cost applies, it's factored into your profit calculation automatically.
Not included: DSMate's subscription fee, your eBay store subscription cost, PayPal or payment processing fees (if applicable), and any ad/promoted listing costs. These vary by seller and are not factored into the per-listing calculation. Account for them separately when setting your target margin.
Where to see the profit breakdown
The profit calculator is visible in two places:
- Import / listing creation — before you publish a product to eBay, the full breakdown is shown so you can adjust your price if needed
- Listing detail page — once a product is live, you can open any listing to see the current profit figure based on the latest supplier cost and your current eBay price
If your profit figure turns negative or drops below your target after an overnight sync, DSMate will flag the listing in your Actions required queue so you can review and reprice before taking another sale at a loss.
