Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2025 · Governing law: Victoria, Australia

DSMate ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights under Australian privacy law — specifically the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

By using DSMate, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.

1. What information we collect

Account information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and a hashed password. If you sign up via Google OAuth, we receive your name and email from Google.

Third-party credentials: To connect your eBay store or Dropshipzone account, you provide credentials or authorise OAuth access. We encrypt and store these solely to operate the Service on your behalf.

Usage data: We collect information about how you use the Service — features accessed, listings managed, sync events, errors — to improve the product and diagnose issues.

Billing information: Payment is processed by our third-party payment provider. We do not store full card numbers. We receive and retain transaction records (amount, date, plan) for accounting purposes.

Communications: If you contact us by email, we retain those communications to respond and improve support.

Cookies and analytics: We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain sessions and gather aggregate usage analytics. No third-party advertising cookies are used.

2. How we use your information

  • To create and manage your account
  • To provide, operate, and improve the Service
  • To process billing and manage your subscription
  • To send transactional emails (account verification, billing receipts, important service notices)
  • To send product update emails where you have opted in (you can unsubscribe at any time)
  • To monitor for security incidents and prevent fraud
  • To comply with our legal obligations

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Who we share your information with

We only share your information with third parties where necessary to provide the Service or comply with the law:

  • eBay and Dropshipzone: Your credentials or OAuth tokens are used to interact with these platforms on your behalf.
  • Cloud infrastructure providers: We use hosting and database providers to run the Service. These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate data processing agreements.
  • Payment processor: Your payment details are handled by our payment provider. We share only what is necessary to process transactions.
  • Email service provider: Used to send transactional and service emails.
  • Law enforcement or regulators: Where required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of DSMate or others.

We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

4. Data storage and security

Your data is stored on servers located in Australia or in jurisdictions with equivalent data protection standards. We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews.

5. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your account, we retain your data for 30 days to allow for reactivation, after which it is deleted or anonymised, except where retention is required by law (e.g. tax records, which we retain for 7 years per Australian law).

6. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or out-of-date information
  • Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention obligations)
  • Opt out of marketing communications at any time
  • Complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe we have mishandled your personal information

To exercise any of these rights, contact us. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and maintain your session. We may use analytics cookies to understand aggregate usage patterns — these do not identify you personally. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

You can configure your browser to block cookies, though some features of the Service may not function correctly without them.

8. Children's privacy

DSMate is a business tool and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Links to third-party sites

The Service may contain links to third-party websites (such as eBay or Dropshipzone). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their own privacy policies.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or via an in-app notice. The date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance.

11. Contact and complaints

For any privacy-related questions or to make a complaint, please contact us. We take all privacy complaints seriously and will respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
